The situation is tense on Islandia and the Northlandian minority is frequently threatened and oppressed by the Islandic Rebels who have close connections to both the Islandic opposition and the mafia in both countries.
Evacuation of the Northlandians at Islandia is necessary. Consequently the naval forces have mines at sea and a landing area has been secured. Heavy resistance must be expected and the operation is expected to last several days.
Along the coast one sees the NATO force. The force inventory allows the force to evacuate the evacuees by both helicopters and boats. The ships are exercising the evacuation in company with the Danish first recce squadron who will secure the land area and conduct the initial visitation before transferring the evacuees to the ships.
Such participation would be one of HDMS ABSALON tasks for the future. The ship will, when she is fully operational in 2007, be capable of carrying 2 helicopters and use the flexdeck as a hospital. Read more about HDMS ABSALON capabilities.
In the coming night DANEX will come to and end. Danish waters will return to its peaceful quietness.
