Boatswain’s whistles, brochures and glittering magazines are spread out on tables inside the red and white tent on the quay next to the Command ship THETIS.

Inside the recruitment tent personnel from the Danish Naval Academy and the Sergeant and Reserve Officer School (SRS) stands ready to tell interested listeners about the possibilities of having a career in the Royal Danish Navy.
Lieutenant Rikke Stenbæk explains the background for being in Odense this weekend:

- It is really hard to get young people to take interest in the Navy and we need people on every level, she explains.
Rikke Stenbæk is surprised that people show such little interest:
This is a great job. No days are alike and although it is a bit of a cliché the navy actually lets you experience the world, the Lieutenant says.

One of the sailors representing SRS, Senior Chief Petty Officer Henrik L. Hansen is happy to be given the chance to promote the Navy. He admits that it is a bit up hill getting People to take interest in a Navy career:

- Until now most of the people who has been in here has been either too young or too old to get a job in the Navy, he states.

I addition to the tent on the harbour the schools have got 22 recruiters on the Navy ships in Odense. They are on a mission to tell the privates on board about their possibilities of staying in the navy, and have a career.

The tent will be on the quay in Odense until Sunday.
