During his visit, he toured the Ship and took the opportunity to discuss how the only British Ship in the exercise was finding it working within the Task Group.
The Commanding Officer of HMS Cornwall, Captain Simon Williams said ‘It was a pleasure to receive COMDATG onboard during this major international exercise, giving him the opportunity to see HMS Cornwall in action. It is always good to see a Task Group Commander visiting the ships under his Command to obtain a personal view of the moral and issues concerning the Captain and Crew. We have worked well with an effective Danish Battlestaff and are receiving valuable training, despite some poor weather’.
HMS Cornwall is one ship of a Task Group representing a force from the fictitious ‘Farawayland’ within in the scenario of the exercise. To date the Ship has conducted close range firings, repelled attack from the air and sea and assisted the HDMS Thetis in a damage control exercise.
