After 10 days of intensive training the naval exercise, DANEX 06, has come to an end. During the night the participating units sailed into port.

The disaster relief operation at Hvims Monday was visited by two fleet commanders and one commodore.

Everything is chaos in the port of Hvims.

The hurricane Hercules has hit the province North Vendia and a naval force is tasked to assist. Helicopters can see that help is badly needed.

In connection with exercise DANEX 06 preparation for a Non-Combatant Evacuation (NEO) exercise was done on September 9.

Currently, the participants of DANEX 06 are in the CET/FIT phase, but what does that mean?

Rescue operations at sea is one of the many important tasks of the Danish Navy. Therefore is is of course also trained during DANEX 06.

The support vessel ESBERN SNARE arrived at Naval Base Frederikshavn to make room on the large flex deck before the ship returns to the DANEX force.

Yesterday Flight Sergeant in the Danish Air Force Johnny R. Pedersen was celebrated. He has spent 3000 hours in the air aboard LYNX helicopters.

During the weekend Aarhus has been upside down. There is a festival in the city and in the harbour seven international navy ships paid a visit.

The Dutch warship HNLMS VAN GALEN has arrived in Frederikshavn to solve some technical problems before they can join the rest of SNMG 1 in DANEX 06.

There was a fire on the quaterdeck of HDMS THETIS in a room with inflammable materials. It could have been extremely serious, but luckily it was only an exercise

Three cooks and one baker ensure that the staff and the crew aboard the command ship HDMS THETIS are never short of neither solid nor liquid food.

Thanks to a Navy diver a 16-year old boy can ride his scooter again, after a trip to the bottom of the harbour basin in Odense.

After an eventful weekend in Odense the ships have departed for sea so that DANEX 06 really can get underway.

At a small ceremony the festival “Under Sail For 1000 Years” was officially closed. The Navy was thanked for its flexibility and openness.

The support ship ESBERN SNARE is on its way through Odense Canal. The departuretime has been pushed forward because of a bad weather forecast.

Exercise became reality when a bulk carrier ran aground in Jammerbugten. The environmental protection vessel GUNNAR THORSON left Odense to assist.

The Danish Naval Band kept the stroke when the DANEX Crews marched trough the streets of Odense.

You can sense it before you enter the gangway to the frigate SACHSEN – not only is it a proud ship, the crew onboard embers with pride.

Cannon rounds rang out across the harbour when four wooden ships fought in Odense during the reconstruction of the sea battle of Kolberger Heide.

With water spraying up from the harbour the helicopter from the command ship THETIS performed a rescue operation for the visitors at ”Under Sail For 1000 Years”.

During “Under sail for 1000 Years” The Danish Navy Schools promotes a carrier in the Navy.

Friday morning Polish, English and German units arrived in Aarhus to participate in DANEX 06.

Commodore Palle Cortes is now in commission as the new Commander Danish Task Group (DATG). He is succeeding commodore Lars Rosendahl Christophersen.

During ”Under Sail For 1000 Years” the Danish Navy Diving School offers ‘free dives” for everybody. But you have to be more than 15 years old.

HDMS THETIS led the way when the DANEX force arrived in Odense today. With a pilot on board the 112 meter long ship was guided into the harbour.

The sun is shining down on Odense harbour while more ships from the Danish Navy arrive to participate in ”Under Sail For 1000 Years”.

Both small and large ships will participate in exercise DANEX 06. Here one of the smallest meets the largest.

ALDEBARAN has now arrived in Odense, where the crew the following days will be hosting open ship, before the vessel Monday departs for exercise DANEX 06.

With festive music and waving flags “Under Sail For 1000 Years” was officially opened by Her Highness Princess Alexandra, countess of Frederiksborg.

Wednesday morning a group of schoolchildren and their teachers invaded the support ship ESBERN SNARE, for a grand tour of the new ship in the Royal Danish Navy

During ”Under Sail For 1000 Years” the environmental protection vessel GUNNAR THORSON demonstrates one of its most important functions: fighting oil spills.

The first ships have arrived in Odense harbour to participate in the event “Under Sail For 1000 Years” before exercise DANEX 06 gets underway on Monday.
