It took an extra round of tug-of-war before the crew of STØREN could be proclaimed as the worthy winner of the DANEX 07 Olympic Games.

The games were held at Rønne Harbour in connection with Exercise DANEX 07.

The team had scored the same number of points as the team from MAKRELEN. Whether both teams got to the top 2 because the championship was faught on their home ground – the berth – will be left unsaid.

The crew from STØREN won the deciding tug-of-war.

When the final pull was made, the crew from STØREN proved itself a bit stronger than the opponent. Therefore they could – well deserved – leave the pier with the challenge cup as their temporary property for the next year.

Ten teams participated in the championship. There were Danish teams from ABSALON, PETER TORDENSKIOLD, SKADEN, STØREN, MAKRELEN and THETIS, who had won the championship in both 2005 and 2006. From Norway teams from GEIR and TJELD participated, from Poland one team from GROM and from the UK a team from the 815 Naval Air Squadron.

The competition on the pier included six different disciplines: Race with jumping ladder, padling in rubber dinghy, knot and bend, precision throwing with heaving line, 2 x 100 meter race with berthing rope and tug-of-war.

The final result:

1. HDMS STØREN
2. HDMS MAKRELEN
3. HDMS ABSALON
4. HDMS THETIS
5. SQN 815
6. HNoMS GEIR
7. HNoMS TJELD
8. ORP GROM
9. HDMS PETER TORDENSKIOLD
10. HDMS SKADEN
