After yesterday’s succesfull evacuation exercise at Raghammer Odde on Bornholm the ships in the DANEX-force are now on their way from the “Isle of Sunshine” to Copenhagen. En route the ships will conduct various exercises – for example escort and submarine exercises.
According to plan the ships will arrive in Copenhagen tomorrow, Friday the 31st of August. The first ship to arrive is ABSALON – the Navy’s newest and largest ship. ABSALON will be berthed at Amaliekaj opposite the Opera. It is expected that ABSALON will berth at 6 a.m. while the other units – including the command ship THETIS – will berth between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m.
The stay in Copenhagen will last the entire weekend and during the visit a number of activities have been planned – amongst other things participation in the commemoration of the bombing of Copenhagen and the theft of the Danish Navy 200 years ago. The ships will be open to the public both Saturday and Sunday between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. and the Danish Naval Band will play on the pier. On Sunday morning there will be church march to Christiansborg Palace Church.
The detailed programme for the activities of the weekend can be found on this website under the menu item “Portvisits”.
