The dark blue LYNX helicopter hovers over a person in the water. From the helicopter one of the crewmembers is sent into the water close to the distressed, who soon after is brought to saferty aboard the LYNX.
The well performed rescue operation is however only a demonstration for the many people who have chosen to visit the Copenhagen harbour today. This weekend the ships which are participating in Exercise DANEX 07 are visiting the capital.
After the rescue operation the helicopter does however not return immediately to its base on the helicopter deck on the command ship THETIS. It demonstrates how the distressed can be lowerd down into a rubber dinghy and down on THETIS’ helicopter deck.
The pilot also uses the opportunity to show how manoeuvrable the the LYNX is.
The Danish Navy has eight LYNX helicopters, which besides rescue operations also can be used as e.g. the far reaching eyes of the ships.
