Not only the persons at sea are busy during DANEX 07. On land the FLS (Forward Logistics Site) at Naval Base Korsør have a lot to do as well.

A lot of people are busy during DANEX 07 and the crew of FLS at Naval Base Korsør is no exception. Several of the ships that participate in the exercise need new spare parts, repairs or something else.

Today PETER TORDENSKIOLD has been in Korsør, MAKRELEN in Kalundborg and ABSALON somewhere off the coast of Sjællands Odde, in Great Belt north. They have been waiting to be fixed so they could sail on and continue their participation in DANEX 07.

Twice as many tasks
- Our tasks are the same as usual. We take care of everything concerning PMC (Personnel, mail and cargo). Besides that, we take care of the ships if they have problems and we find the people and spare parts to solve the problem as fast as possible, says Jes Hansen. He is a part of the FLS during DANEX 07 and is head of department at OPLOG Korsør.

This year the FLS at Naval Base Korsør has had twice as many LOGREQs (Logistic Request) as last year. Since DANEX 07 started the FLS have had 127 LOGREQs.

-We are very busy. We have never been this busy before during an exercise, says Jes Hansen. He can only guess at the reason why so many ships need repairs. The Defence does not have enough spare parts and therefore have to take them from other ships.

These used spare parts that are taken from other ships are worn out and often break again. Until DANEX 07 ends on Tuesday the FLS will be very busy.

- Our workload will be exactly as difficult during the rest of DANEX 07 as it has been the past two weeks, estimates Jes Hansen.
