The 109 AW from Stratton ANGB, New York, will be present at the Airshow at Aalborg. They will bring the LC-130H which normally flies tasks in the arctic.
The LC-130H are equipped with fully retractable skis that allow the aircraft to land on snow and ice as well as on traditional runways. The aircraft have the possibility of using jet-assisted-takeoff rockets that are used when the LC-130 operates from rough, unprepared snow surfaces or when shorter takeoff runs are needed.
The 109 AW also flies missions for the Danish Armed Force whose Sirius patrol in the northern part of Greenland often needs to get re-supplied.
It is expected that the LC-130H will join the Sirius patrol to make an exhibition as part of an arctic theme at the airshow.
