A smarter and Greener Defence - NDIS 2012
The Nordic Industrial Seminar (NDIS) is conducted and hosted on a rotational basis between the Nordic countries. Sweden hosted the last NDIS in 2009 and this year Denmark hosts the 4th Nordic Defence Industry Seminar 2012 in Copenhagen from the 2nd to the 3rd of May.
Climate change, energy security and cost-effectiveness are becoming increasingly prominent factors on the Defence Agenda, and Denmark has rethought the concept of NDIS so the concept reflects current global trends regarding the “Green Agenda” (i.e. saving energy, reducing carbon dioxide emissions and protecting the climate and environment). The expansion of the seminar provides an opportunity for broader themes and a larger group of participants than previous.
The overall purpose of the Nordic industry seminars is to promote network building, exchange of knowledge and relevant collaborations between the defence industries of the Nordic countries as well as at the governmental level. Review of Nordic countries defence acquisition and procurement plans is also considered important parts of these events.

The seminar will have two tracks: One track will focus on the need to adapt Defence to the effects of a changing climate and the impact of energy scarcity. The other track offers a series of sessions on current and future trends regarding Nordic military equipment, acquisition and capabilities.
Following the keynote addresses there will be plenary sessions and workshops facilitated by cutting edge specialists from defence, industry and government. An exhibition area is likewise available at the Bella Center. The seminar will thus provide a platform for networking, knowledge building and knowledge sharing for policy makers, high level officials, acquisition experts and industry participants from NORDEFCO countries and from the Northern Group, including Norway, Sweden, Finland, Denmark, UK, The Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.
