Danish operators have participated in Exercise Cold Response, where complex air operations, Arctic conditions, and close multinational cooperation enhanced both operational capabilities and Alliance cohesion.

After four years of defensive war against Russia, Ukrainian forces have gained extensive and hard-won experience that Denmark and NATO are now learning from. This week, Ukrainian doctors, nurses and combat medics from the front line are visiting Denmark to share their knowledge.

Over the coming weeks, Danish forces, Danish air control units and several Royal Danish Navy vessels will participate in the exercise Cold Response, which this year supports NATO’s overarching activity Arctic Sentry. The exercise contributes to strengthening security in the Arctic and the North Atlantic.

As part of exercise activities, a Danish Seahawk helicopter was transported last week by a French military aircraft from Karup Air Base to Keflavík, Iceland. The purpose was to train a more efficient relocation of Denmark’s maritime helicopter capability in cooperation with NATO allies.

With the Arctic and North Atlantic gaining increasing strategic importance, NATO Allies will enhance their military presence in the region in 2026.

In January, Danish soldiers completed the "Winter Warfare Course" in northern Sweden. The goal is to strengthen the ability of both the soldiers and the Army to fight and survive in sub-zero environments.
