Roles and responsibilities
The Danish Armed Forces solve a wide range of tasks in Denmark, Greenland and the Faroe Islands. Internationally Denmark has a longstanding tradition for participating in military international cooperation and operations at the world's trouble spots.
Home and abroad
The Danish Armed Forces maintain the sovereignty of the Danish Commonwealth and form part of society's overall emergency readiness (the so-called total-defence concept).
Since 1948 more than 60,000 Danish service-members have served in trouble spots all over the world in UN and NATO missions or through Danish participation in international coalitions.
