The defense has worked closely with the UK in, among other things, Iraq and Afghanistan and in a large number of other international operations. Since JEF was launched in 2014, Denmark has supported the concept. JEF was declared operational in 2018. Today, the JEF countries cooperate on exercises, operations and doctrine development to train the ability to assemble an international force in a short time, should it become necessary, and also strengthens the ability for working together on all military levels. The JEF does not have permanent forces. The member states allocate the necessary forces on a case-by-case basis.
